Transportation Services

Southern Frontenac Community Services offers affordable and reliable transportation to seniors (60+), and adults with physical disabilities (not covered by ODSP), living in South Frontenac and Rural Kingston.

Every month, our Transportation Coordinator schedules 500+ drives for clients. These drives include trips to:

-
Medical appointments at hospitals, doctor’s office, walk-in clinics, etc.
-
Social appointments (visiting loved ones in hospitals, support groups, etc.)
-
Essential errands (banking, grocery shopping, Walmart)
-
Southern Frontenac Community Services programming (Adult Day Program, Diners Lunch Club, Social & Recreational Programs including Grace Café and Social Club)
-
and many more!

Clients wanting to book a drive can call 613-376-6477 ext. 307. Please call at least 3 days in advance of your appointment, so the Coordinator has enough time to find a driver.

**Please note that Volunteer drivers are screened and interviewed by Staff before being scheduled for drives with clients.

Rates

Clients are billed $0.45/km* for the distance they are in the car.
Drives less than 10km are billed a flat rate of $4.50*
* Subsidies are available to clients who qualify

Clients who require physical assistance or accompaniment to an appointment may request an escort; however, this is not the driver’s responsibility unless specifically arranged in advance. A signed consent form must be on file before any escort service is provided. Drivers who act as escorts will receive an additional $12.00, included in their monthly mileage reimbursement.

Clients are responsible for paying any parking fees incurred while the driver is parked at their appointment. If the client does not have money at the time, the driver may cover the cost and submit the parking stub to SFCSC so the fee can be billed to the client.
