Lunch Club Volunteer

Lunch Club is a gathering that is run on a monthly basis in four locations, providing the opportunity for local seniors to enjoy a meal, entertainment and an opportunity to socialize (approx. 2 hours total). Transportation is provided for participants that require it. The four club locations are: Sydenham, Harrowsmith, Glenburnie, and Verona.

When:  Lunch club occurs regularly September through May, each week on Wednesday, rotating through four locations.  Volunteers elect the locations and dates that work best for them.  Summer lunches typically run on a reduced schedule; centralized events occur in June and August.

Volunteer Roles:

  • Kitchen Helpers:  Volunteers in the kitchen help prepare the food, serve, and tidy the kitchen and dishes at the end of the program.

  • Hall Servers:  Servers support the serving of the meal and beverages, socializing with the guests and clearing of the tables.

  • Entertainers: Musicians or other Entertainers perform for our Diner’s guests.

  • Greeters: Greet the clients as they arrive at the program, collect tickets and/or payment.

  • Drivers: Drivers provide transportation to program participants, picking them up at their homes and bringing them to the Diner’s Club location. They also ensure safe return at the end of the meal.

  • Administrative Support:  Volunteers who enjoy office work can support us by making phone calls to participants to confirm attendance and inform the Transportation Coordinator of the guests who require rides.
