Visiting Hospice & Bereavement Volunteer
Hospice volunteers provide compassionate listening and support to clients living with a life-limiting illness and their caregivers. This role may include home visits, phone conversations, overnight sitting and grief support.
When: Visiting hours take place when it is mutually convenient for the volunteer and client, no more than four hours per week.
Prior to being matched with a client, volunteers are provided with a 30-hour Hospice Volunteer Training which includes an overview of palliative care concepts and provides theoretical and practical training pertaining to the end of life care, dying and grief and bereavement support in a volunteer capacity.
